Meagan Dreams EP 12: Beginning, Middle, End
Thursday Sep 12, 2024
Thursday Sep 12, 2024
Join me for this week's installment of Meagan Dreams as I play and discuss songs that refer to or are about the beginning, the middle and the end of something. (A point in time, a relationship, a story, an idea?) You can listen to this show online at eardrumbuzz.net - I’ll be live on air from 6 PM to 9 PM Pacific time tonight, Tuesday, September 10th.
Flyer image and design are by Patrick Dickson - it depicts these concepts simply by representing them as three individual points on a horizontal line, but as we all know, journeys, narratives and stories are rarely linear.
“she said you know that good times are so hard to follow when all your yesterdays shine but the rains come tomorrow and I love the way it starts but I hate the way it ends the way the end denies the start and sends little rhythmic arcs sending me round and round and round and round the bend your voice sounds so sad and my heart’s filled with sorrow your tears and my pride are both so hard to swallow” _ Adam Franklin, “Good Times Are So Hard to Find” off of the Future Ruins album

Meagan Dreams 11: Nude Beaches and 9-Volt Velvet
Tuesday Sep 10, 2024
Tuesday Sep 10, 2024
Join me for this week's installment of Meagan Dreams as I proudly feature an interview with Mark Cross of the band 9-volt velvet. Following the interview, I play selected songs from the 9-volt velvet discography, with a focus on songs from the band's 2024 full-length release, which is titled "Nude Beaches."
After that, I'll be playing songs that refer to the "nude beaches" album title and theme - whether in the song subject, the artist's name, or using nudity/nakedness as a metaphor for something else. I'm eager to share this week's selections with you. My hope is that they will encourage the listener to think about aspects of being uninhibited, unguarded, unadorned - or also about being on the beach/in the ocean, as we try to squeeze the last drops of sunlight-heavy days and summer from and in the Northern Hemisphere.
Flyer photo and design are by Patrick Dickson.

Vapour Trail LIve: Trip Hop
Monday Sep 02, 2024
Monday Sep 02, 2024
Bret goes at it alone for over three hours of Trip-Hop, jazzy and funky tunes for your listening pleasure.
Since an early age I've been fascinated by the jazzier side of music, probably helped by the fact that my dad listened to plenty of it while we were in the car. Then Hip-Hop came around in the early 80's with LL Cool J, Ice T, Beastie Boys and Run DMC among others that mixed the sounds of Jazz and funky samples into their songs. Trip-Hop was an amalgamation of all that was around at the time and before, including Drum & Bass, Electronic music, Dub, Soul, Funk, Classical and Blues, with plenty of radio, TV and film samples included.
Thanks to Richard Dotson and Craig Tigwell for their requests and to Anji Lum for sending her solo music as Anji Bee and Lovespirals releases.
Vapour Trail Live is heard on the second and fourth Fridays at 6pm Pacific. Patrons of Eardrum Buzz Live get to hear the show a week before anyone else.

Monday Sep 02, 2024
Monday Sep 02, 2024
There's no denying that the decade between 1990 and 2000 was full of great music. Sure, we had to suffer through quite a few fads, but the songs that stays with us are those that touched our hearts and were the soundtracks for the time when we were creating a life for ourselves.
This was the time of MTV, Lollapalooza, College Rock, touring live bands every night of the week all over town. While this is Brandon Dudley's show, this is also, with a few exceptions all the music that was around me in my college days too.
Souvlaki Bass Station is heard on Eardrum Buzz Radio Sundays at 1pm and 9pm Pacific with replays the following Sunday. Listen at www.eardrumbuzz.net

Souvlaki Bass Station Episode 18: What's the Connection?
Monday Aug 12, 2024
Monday Aug 12, 2024
At some point in Brandon Dudley's beginnings with his bass-centric show Souvlaki Bass Station, we discussed some ideas for themes for his shows. One of the ideas I suggested was playing songs that had some connection to each other. Well, being the big brain and music nerd that he is, Brandon took off with that.
Will there be bands sampling or covering each other, using the same bass guitars, sharing members, guests on songs? What's the Connection?
